Travel Guide: Girls Trip Edition
Updated: Jan 13, 2023
Since New Zealand's Covid cases have spiked and so many people are isolating at home, I have been thinking about the beautiful places I have been to this summer and how lucky we were over the holiday break to be able to be out of lockdown and spending time with our loved ones. I can wholeheartedly say I have loved every minute of the summer of 21/22 so far. Spending quality time with family, making memories with friends, and filling my cup right up with things that bring me peace.
I always take advantage of the long weekends and make sure to plan something where I am either getting out of town or finding new places to see. My friends and I organised a girl's trip down to Tauranga back in January and I guess you can say we checked off all of the 'Mount' essentials.
A wholesome trip to start the New Year off, so keep reading to find out more about our cute adventures to the beautiful Mount Maunganui.
#1 Sunset Chasing on Arrival
Starting our girls trip off well with a beautiful sunset along both Pilot Bay and Mount Main Beach. Tauranga has the perfect Sunrise and Sunset views and they never fail to disappoint.
#2 Mount Maunganui Summit
Starting our Saturday off right, the girls and I walked up having to obviously take the classic 'we walked up the mount' pictures as everyone does hehe. Then having a lovely late brunch in town and taking a stroll through the shops.
Tauranga is known for the Mount Summit Walk and there are many different tracks up and around which are suitable for any fitness level.
#3 Mount Main Beach
It wouldn't be a summer holiday unless you went to the beach. Mount Main beach has amazing surf and is always busy which creates a safe environment when swimming. The only downfall is the lack of parking down the Mount, always keep an eye out for spaces as they go quickly!
#4 Saturday Night Must: Drinking Margaritas at Roxiecantina
This place has been popping off since it opened, being constantly bombarded on my social media of the vibe of this place, so was an absolute must to have Margies at the local. The food was yummy, perfect portions sizes for groups and the overall feel of the place was very on trend.
#5 Another Sunset...
Tauranga runs along the east coast, surrounded by beach and coastline. The loveliest place to sit and watch sunsets and in our case go bunny tail picking in the dunes.
#6 Waterfall Chasing
You probably won't believe me when I say we walked through a 300m cave to find the most serene falls in Waihi...but its true. Dickey Flat is somewhat a hard place to find, we had to ask a few local campers about directions but found the falls soon enough.
I don't even know where to start, it was an adventure to say the least. The water was beautiful to swim in and the different types of falls gave the river an abstract feel.
