Meet Jasmine Lagudi...
TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF?
The easiest way to describe me is really small...with big energy! I'm a Marketer + PT + DJ. I know what you're thinking, that is a lot! Haha that's me. I'm also a triplet, so I'm used to lots going on.
HOW IS THE PT JOURNEY GOING AND WHAT MOTIVATED YOU TO BECOME A PERSONAL TRAINER?
Personal Training is going well, I've picked up coaching a lot quicker then I expected! The journey here was a little lengthy, trying to juggle getting through the course whilst working full time in Marketing & Advertising felt like such a grind. But now that I'm into it, it's been pretty awesome. Once you get through the intro phase and start really connecting with your clients, it's such a positive and impactful process.
HOW DO YOU FIND JUGGLING BEING A PT, DJ, AND WORKING WHILE TRYING TO FIND DOWNTIME?
Honestly it's a catch22 - I absolutely love the juggle, I live for being busy! PersonalTraining, DJing and Marketing all have different ways of thinking and operating, which is what makes my days so exciting. Although timing for them all couldn't be more opposite.
PT is early mornings, DJing is really late nights and then all the hours in between are filled with Marketing!
I will admit, PT and DJing don't really feel like work to me, so it ends up feeling more like fun. But this does mean that some days can end up being really, really long.
And downtime? What is that? Haha downtime is currently the only thing I'm missing, which does mean that juggling all three passions isn't the most sustainable path forward. Eventually I'll need to re-shuffle and drop something down to a simmer. I think I'll probably start with pulling back as a DJ, it's a tricky lifestyle in itself.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOURSELF IN SIX WORDS?
Energetic, bubbly, driven, disciplined, sporty, and cheeky!
I HEARD YOU'RE GOING OVERSEAS? WHAT ARE YOUR TRAVEL PLANS?
Europe baby!
Very soon I'm off for about 3 months of travel, a nice mixture of Contiki's, planned travel with friends and some solo time. I can't wait to see and experience so many places across Europe that I've never been to before, we're talking - Amsterdam, Berlin, Budapest, Swiss Alps, Belgium, Greece, Spain, Portugal...the list goes on!
I'm also tossing up relocating to the UK for a little while after too, so TBC on where I land!
HOW ARE YOU GOING TO KEEP YOUR FITNESS UP WHILE AWAY TRAVELLING?
Honestly, this is the golden question for me right now. I'm so disciplined and routine with training, that I don't go many days without it. I'm genuinely unsure how I'm going to squash it in whilst I'm on the move, but I'm determined to find the best way to stay fit.
I've decided to create myself a little IG profile called 'Fly Fit' to keep myself accountable (I know, so ballsy). But I'd like to have a place to track my travel and training across the globe, somewhere for me to refer back to as a reminder of where I've been and how far I've come finding the balance.
I have no idea how it'll go, but I'm hoping to figure out some answers on how to best travel and train. I'd bet money that there are heaps of other fitness addicts that may be holding off on long travel trips because they're a little worried about losing their training progress.
There has to be a way for travel and training to meet in the middle, so I'll keep you posted!
WHAT ARE THE ESSENTIAL ITEMS IN YOUR GYM SPACE?
Honestly, I could smash a session with a single dumbbell and be so happy with it! The less equipment you have, the more creative you can be with your timings and movements. I'm a firm believer that you should be able to lift and move your own bodyweight with ease before you jump into smashing big weights.
In the gym I love a barbell, squat rack, pull up bar and dumbbells. Outside the gym I love a TRX and also something to do pull ups on is all I need.
WHAT MOTIVATES YOU?
Growth. Whether it be learning and skillset growth or personal mindset growth. I love this quote "there's no growth in the comfort zone and no comfort in the growth zone". Pushing yourself to feel uncomfortable is a tough thing to do. It's often something you have to do with your fitness in order to progress. I love learning that comes with getting through something you find challenging.
WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS AND PASSIONS AROUND FITNESS?
My thoughts about fitness are similar to the growth and comfort zone concept. To progress, you often have to push your body to a point where you feel a little uncomfortable. A lot of people don't like spending time in this space, but it's the area I enjoy being in the most.
Fitness is a low burn that requires dedication and commitment. It's addicting because there's no real ceiling on your potential. You will become as fit as you push yourself to be over time. There's always another way to push yourself and always another technique or training style to learn. It' something where the output of your ability directly correlates to your effort put in.
The passion for me comes with leading example. It's an unreal feeling to teach people something new and watch them realise their own potential to progress too.
DO YOU LISTEN TO ANYTHING WHEN YOU WORK OUT?
Big yes! I often used my training sessions to course music for my DJ sets. Finding new music is a time consuming process, so pairing it with my workouts was perfect for extra listening time. If I listened to the times and felt pumped with energy to hit my next set, then I'd add it to the track list.
DO YOU HAVE A DREAM THAT YOU WOULD LOVE TO FULFIL?
I would love to love what I do. Long-term I want to build something, I'm not sure what, maybe a business. Whatever it is, I want it to be something that I am passionate about, I'm eager to find what fills up my cup with purpose.
