Meet Hannah Miriam

Updated: Oct 2, 2023

Hannah, a beauty goddess and the person I trust the most when it comes to skin advice and knowledge, a beauty therapist, and a guru in all things skin and inner health. I have known Hannah for a few years now and she is the kindest, most gentle person you will ever meet. Always considerate of others and willing to help people on their skin journeys and finding their zen and relaxation through beauty therapy.

My skin has always been something I have tried to take care of and put effort into maintaining, but since the beginning of lockdown, the reactions of my skin changed drastically. I have found that there is a lack of information regarding skin and the components of the barriers, different vitamins, and what ingredients work well with different skin types. Hannah has been my skin dictionary, I trust her knowledge and opinion on the inner workings of the skin and what I need to do to affect my long-term skin routine.

Meet Hannah...

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN DOING BEAUTY THERAPY?

I have been working in the beauty industry for just over two years now.

WHAT PATH LED YOU TO THIS?

I have always had a love and passion for all things glam and beauty since a young age. When I was still in high school my parents brought me a makeup course for my birthday. I loved the course and the artiness behind this hobby of mine, which is what helped me to decide that this was the career path I wanted to go down. In 2017 I left school to go and study makeup artistry and special effects. However, during that year of study, I discovered that my interest was more focused on the knowledge of the skin, body, and skincare side. The following year I started my 2-year journey to becoming a qualified Beauty Therapist. My goal in life was to be able to create change for people and to help them feel beautiful and confident in their skin.

YOU ALSO HAVE A BEAUTY ACCOUNT! WHAT MOTIVATED YOU TO CREATE THIS?

I want to be able to create something where I can share my knowledge of skin and basic tips and tricks with others. I like the idea of doing something where others can come to me for advice or things to look for when helping with individual concerns of theirs. Sometimes I feel in an industry like this you can sit with lots of knowledge compounding in your head and getting it all out can sometimes be challenging. So I guess what I'm trying to do with my page is put that knowledge out there for people to learn or to easily access when they need some free advice or help.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOURSELF IN SIX WORDS?

I would say I'm Nurturing, Considerate, Happy, Bubbly, Kind, and Compassionate

WHAT DO YOU DO IN YOUR SPARE TIME?

In my spare time, I love to brainstorm new ideas for posts or videos for my Instagram. I also love to go for walks, sit and soak up vitamin D, Read a book, go to the beach, do some baking or painting and listen to skincare podcasts on Spotify. Recently in lockdown, I have also started making some beaded jewelry which is so much fun!

WHERE DO YOU FIND YOUR INSPIRATION FROM?

I feel my inspiration comes from needing to want to make others feel beautiful in their skin. I get inspired from seeing the joy and relaxation you can give someone just from putting a bit of love and care into my job.

WHAT ARE THE ESSENTIAL ITEMS IN YOUR SKINCARE ROUTINE?

Definitely a good cleanser as that is the essential base of a routine. I would also say my hydrating serum, My PM moisturiser, and a good SPF.

DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE PRODUCT OR TOOL YOU USE?

I love my GUA SHA. It is so nice for draining toxins out of my face and helping with lymphatic drainage. I also would say my go-to product would have to be my face masks. Especially during lockdown, my skin needs all the pick-me-up it can get. Putting one on, on a rainy day or while watching a movie helps me to relax and keep my skin nice and healthy.

WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS AND PASSIONS AROUND SKINCARE AND BEAUTY THERAPY?

Beauty Therapy to me is about helping others and creating confidence and change for people. I have always been a people person and loved being able to sit down and chat with others and listen to their worries, needs, or problems. I find it therapeutic to be able to sit in a room where I can just listen and be there for someone and give them a treat at the same time. I get very passionate when someone comes to me with skin concerns and it becomes my goal to want to fix it for them. The skin is your body's largest organ and I believe we should look after it with lots of care.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT YOUR PROFESSION?

I love that I get to look after clients. Building client relationships and going on a skin journey with them is one of my favourite things. Having conversations and getting to interact the whole day is very fun and motivating for me. I also love that it is a very rewarding job. The fact that you can help to brighten and make someone's day a little better is such a perk of the job. I love creating change in the skin and helping to find solutions to their concerns too. Being able to pamper and relax someone who needs it or to gift them free advice and have them leave feeling happy and looked after is the reason why I love what I do.

DO YOU HAVE A DREAM THAT YOU WOULD LOVE TO FULFILL?

Definitely! One day a dream of mine is to open my place where people come to be educated on their skin as well as be pampered. I would also love to stock the skincare brand that I have created myself.

WHAT'S THE HARDEST THING ABOUT YOUR WORK?

The hardest thing I would say is making sure you find the time outside of work for your self-care. Sometimes you can get so fixated on other skin that you forget to look after your own.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE SOMEONE WANTING TO START FOCUSING ON THEIR SKINCARE?

Start slow and build your way up. It can be an expensive investment so making sure you introduce products bit by bit is a good way to go. Also, listen to your skin and body as it's very clever and knows what it does and doesn't want.

HOW WOULD YOU DEFINE CREATIVITY? AND HOW DO YOU PUT THIS INTO PRACTICE IN YOUR WORK?

I would say creativity to me is about being imaginative and creating things for the use and purpose of yourself and others. In my job, I get to use this daily as we are constantly coming up with unique and individual plans and routines for each client. Being able to be creative and customizable all the time keeps me motivated and very content in my workplace.
