A journey of self discovery and artistry

Updated: Oct 2, 2023

How do you define creativity? I would say, it is a way of being. A form of expressing yourself and looking beyond what is in front of you. We as humans have the ability to think way beyond the box's confinement. I believe we are all capable of greatness, of using our minds to surpass the spectrum.

From an early age, I was an intrigued child. Always surrounded by artistic, innovative, and fun people. My fondest memories were colouring at night with mum on the couch while watching TV and laying out all my scrapbooking materials on my bedroom floor and spending hours making albums.

I was constantly encouraged to be myself and have fun with whatever I was doing, which allowed me to be a free spirit. Arts and crafts growing up was something I found relaxing, the best way to shut me up (if they gave me pens and paper, they wouldn't hear a sound).

Looking back, I was always busy. Constantly making things, dressing up, singing, dancing, I rarely allowed my brain to rest. I had an amazing upbringing with parents who encouraged me to get out of my shell and be extroverted, which ultimately shaped the woman I am today.

Throughout school, I took all artistic classes that were available, as well as the mandatory classes, but only thrived in the subjects I found interesting and challenging. School for me was a way of incubating my capabilities for when becoming an adult, it was a way of building up my character and putting together the skills and mindset that would allow me strength and originality once leaving school.

My mum calls me an active relaxer, if I am doing something I enjoy then I am content which is why I started this blog in the first place because my mind is at peace when writing and designing.

"We are all truly special in our own ways" - Shania

The journey I have been on from when I was younger to now has been one of development and growth. I found that you cannot be part of the furniture in order to make a change, you need to be the driving force and open to failure.

These are only small moments in my life that have left an imprint on my creative self, I guess the message I am wanting you all to take away from this, is that you DO NOT need to fit the mold of society. There is no one on this earth like you and it's best to keep it that way, we are all unique in our own ways and so be kind to yourself and get creative because you never know where it will take you.

Warmest,

Shania x
