Why taking a break for yourself is healthy
I have been feeling content with my routine lately, but I thought it would be nice to spice it up and recharge my energy by taking a solo trip down to my hometown while the weather was at its prime.
Immersing yourself in a different environment can be very healing, it allows you to fill your cup with the things that bring you the most happiness for you to feel refreshed and ready to tackle life.
Below are a few of my favourite things I have been doing to help recharge myself as well as bring me peace and wholesomeness;
Watch Sunrise
I lived in Tauranga for 15 years and not once did I ever watch a sunrise. I have been following @the.sunrisecrew for a wee while now and I always envy the sunrises they capture, so thought while I am down I MUST take the time to watch a sunrise along the beach one morning!
Spend time at the beach
Ocean swims and sand is a cure in itself while partnering a nice beachy afternoon with your favourite book and vitamin D is something I am always down for.
Watch Sunsets
For those who know me well, I am a sucker for sunsets. I obsess over the colours and even the cloud formations, it's a little concerning how many sunset photos I have in my photo gallery. But, I enjoy the tranquility of nature and the stillness of my surroundings.
Catch up with Friends & Family
Seeing family and friends is always revitalising, especially when it has been some time since I have seen them. There is always so much to catch up on!
Enjoy lunchtime walks
I have been doing this while working from home, but the same streets in Auckland can get a bit dull so wanted to get my steps in with walks around the local reserves and of course the gorgeous papamoa beach. Was so warm this week so took advantage of the lovely weather while taking my lunch break. Also being outside during the day is always good for soul!
Trying new things, getting out of your comfort zone, and allowing yourself the time you need to rest and recharge are not only beneficial but crucial for a healthy balanced lifestyle. Going on a trip or even spending the day doing something you enjoy lets go of the stress and tension you are going through and gives you the time you need to reset.
